AWPS20 Dehydrator from Cibred Sud

Airborne waveguide pressurization system AWPS20

This product is available from Milexia Deutschland

The AWPS20 dehydrator is designed for military applications to provide a continuous supply of filtered, dry and compressed air that prevents arcing and improves power handling duties on waveguide in every type of radar systems.

Designed for airborne environment, the output pressure remains always constant, both in gauge and absolute pressure versions, and it doesn’t depend on the ambient pressure. The AWPS20 can work up to 50 kft of operating altitude. It is capable of supplying dry air, with a dew point better than -40°C, up to 300 l/h at sea level and up to 3 l/h at 50 kft of altitude.
It is factory settable to work with absolute pressure control up to 117 kPa abs or with gauge pressure control up to 400 kPa. The air is dried through adsorption by granular substances contained in an easily extractable cartridge.

The AWPS20 includes multiple alarm systems for low pressure, high pressure, and overall system status, all of which can be remotely signaled. Optional remote control via RS485 is available. Three independent pressure sensors support precise pressure control and alarm functions.

The system features a triple safety mechanism against over‑pressure: a mechanical safety valve, a supervisor circuit that switch off compressor if pressure is out of control, and a compressor overcurrent power cut-off calibrated with the pressure-current characteristic curve. The AWPS20 pressure control section is physically separated from supervisor and cut-off sections. The AWPS20 is based on an oil free compressor electronically controlled by the driver board to generate air at the pressure required by the consumer.

A fundamental characteristic of this dehydrator is its compressor’s automatic flow rate regulation due to feed-back control of the output pressure. The dehydrator’s flow rate is controlled according to the plant’s requirements by the control and operating logic which maintains the output pressure at set point value by adjusting the compressor’s speed. This feature minimize the compressor’s activity, reduces wear and tear, current absorption and noise level, makes the dehydrator flexible enough to meet the plant’s requirements and increases the system’s overall reliability.
